Stalls are a group of freestyle nunchaku techniques in which the nunchaku are turned in order to pause during a swing, eliminating momentum. Stalls, like bounces, are useful for changing the direction of a swing. Stalls in freestyle nunchaku were adapted from poi, another form of object manipulation in which stalls play a larger role. For this reason, stalls in freestyle nunchaku are most commonly used by performers who also practice poi. Freestyle nunchucks are a really cool way to impress weapons judges at martial arts tournaments.
